The Universal Language of Dance

HEY!! So, I am SO, SOOO sorry. I did it again, didn't I. I'm late to post. For the 45793750154574957th time in a row (fun fact: I just pressed a bunch of random number keys for a few seconds to come up with a huge number). I mean, nothing interesting enough to blog about was happening in my life, really. I was thinking of blogging about fuzzy socks, but then life and homework and tests took over, like usual. I hope you'll understand.

But this post is something I experienced today, actually. And that's the power of the universal language of dance.

Dance connects us in a way that only dance again. I myself am NOT a great dancer at all, my dance moves consist of the box, and moving my hands in weird and random motions to make me look like I'm dancing.

And I did ballet once. For a year. When I was 6. (It just wasn't my thing I guess. I'm not very coordinated, so that probably has something to do with it haha. Music is much more my speed, but I do enjoy rockin' out with my friends once in awhile...aka every day :P)

However. There are certain dance moves that everyone comes to know. One of the more modern ones are the whip, and the nae nae. Another is the dab.

I had an interesting experience with the dab today. I was walking down the street when I heard these kids yelling from a bus. I looked up, and they yelled "dab! Can you dab??"

And so I did.

They all cheered, laughing, and I started laughing, and BAM. WE HAD A CONNECTION!!!! That was super cool.

And the best part was? They were complete strangers. At first we thought that we knew them, but then it turned out they weren't people we knew. The people we knew were on another bus. And I'd like to say I went up to these complete strangers and introduced myself and now I have friends for life. However, I had to keep walking. They were on a bus, we had to get to a bus, so it just wasn't gunna happen haha. But I still had that connection.

And I bet somewhere, those kids are telling someone else about the "cool girl that dabbed for them".

YUP THAT'S RIGHT!! I'M COOL NOW!! I CAN DAB, PEOPLE!!

Hahaha well. I'm not saying it was a life changing experience or anything, I just thought I'd share it with you, and maybe encourage you to have similar moments with people you don't even know!! Take it from me, it is a very cool experience. So the next time you're out on the street, just start doing the whip and nae nae! Who knows, maybe someone will join you! How cool would that be?

ANYWAYSSS. Gotta go. Things to do, people to see...(just kidding. I have things to do, but no one to see cause I'm not as cool as I'd like to think I am. At least not to society. People these days. I think I'm the coolest kid on the block! Haha).

What do you know about/what experiences have you had with the power of dance (or music)? Let me know in the comments below!!

'Till next time!

    1. Haha thank you!! And ooh really? That is so cool!! Good on ya for getting that far - I love to dance, but I don't think I'd be able to commit to doing that much. Like I said in my post, my dancing skills more consists of the box, the cha cha, or making up random moves, lol. Good luck with your training!!
