summer morning routine.

Good evening and happy Sunday! I hope you had an amazing day! :) Today, I wanted to discuss my summer morning routine. Now, I won’t lie - I love the idea of doing an intentional routine where I plan out what I want to do every morning and get into that habit. And I’m working on that. But I’ve kind of fallen into an accidental routine that I actually really like haha. So I thought I’d share it here! I’m also going to add a few things that I want to add in this month hopefully, we shall see how that goes! Hopefully it will help someone, and at the very least, have it to look back on next summer or when I’m starting a new routine in the fall. So...here it is! :)

— 7am - 7:30am: wake up —
This one kind of shifts depending on what time I went to bed - I like to get between 8-8 and half hours of sleep every night, so like I said, it really depends. But I like getting up early - sleeping in just makes me feel like I’ve wasted the day! Know what I mean?

7am - 7:45am: chilling and scrolling through social media —
This is one I am trying to stop...but I mean, it is a good way to wake up? I’ve managed to get it down to less than an hour recently, though, so I’m pretty happy with that. Maybe one day we’ll be at 0min?? Haha one can dream.

— 7:30am - 8am: reading in bed —
This is something I did this morning that I really enjoyed, so I definitely want to do it more often! Hopefully, if I grab a book as soon as I wake up, it will kick the habit of scrolling through social media. ‘Cause really, it would do the same thing (wake me up gently), but would be a lot better for me, since it would mean I would not go on technology first thing! Given I’m likely going to be on most of the day, this is probably a good plan lol. Maybe I’ll start putting on some cozy tunes too (I’ve been listening to Spotify’s “Cozy Acoustic Morning” as of late - would DEFINITELY recommend, such good vibes)!

— 8am-8:30am: make my bed, change into workout gear, and go get something to eat —
I don’t know about you, but when I wake up, I’m usually pretty hungry. I used to be able to go workout without having eaten first, and it was sooo much more convenient...but this summer for some reason I have yet to have a morning where that is a possibility! So I usually just get some yoghurt and blueberries, as well as a glass or two of water. I also make my to-do list right before this (though I’ve had everything planned out the night before!). It just helps me to rewrite it out on another piece of paper, so I really know what I gotta do.

— 8:30am-9am: workout —
As you can probably tell by my habit of the week post from last week, I’ve been trying to workout every morning. It helps to get it out of the way early while also making me feel super accomplished lol so I’ve actually been really enjoying that. I’ve slipped a bit to be honest...but I really want to keep it up through August so fingers crossed haha.

—9am-9:45am: coffee, shower/get dressed for the day —
Not gunna lie, having my morning coffee after my workout has really been a good reward for getting it done hehe. I usually enjoy it sitting by my window watching a YouTube video! This is a part of my routine that I’ve really fallen into accidentally since the beginning of quarantine, but it’s one of my favourite parts of my routine so it’s not going away anytime soon. As for getting dressed, even though I’m probably not going out, I still like to get dressed in something I feel good in, that looks good as well! It motivates me to get the day going so much more - I love my pjs, but if I stay in them the likelihood is high that nothing is getting done. So I get completely ready as if I’m going out, and then get to my day! :)

That’s pretty much it! Hope you enjoyed reading this, and hopefully got something out of it as well! What are your summer morning routines? What’s your favourite part of your morning? Let me know in the comments or on my insta (@getupandoutblog)!

See ya Tuesday, stay golden! :)
