cozy day in my life.

Good morning guys! I hope you’re all doing well. It has been awhile, hasn’t it! I keep meaning to post but honestly the weeks just keep flying by. This week however, I made a cozy day in my life. :)  It’s my first proper vlog! Well, I did one about my trip to Ottawa like 3 or 4 years ago...but this is the first one I’ve done in a very long time. Second overall. I’m still learning, but it was fun to make! So any feedback would be much appreciated. If you liked it, and/or if you wanna see more of these, let me know! Comment down below or on my insta - @getupandoutblog :). Hope you enjoyed it, and thanks so much for watching!!

my quarantine thus far as told through tv shows.

Hello! Long time no see, haha oops. It's been a minute. So today, I wanted to do a mini recap on my fave shows so far since quarantine! I'm sure I'm not alone in watching significantly more netflix since quarantine began lol. However, I wanted to give it a bit of a twist. So without further ado, I give you my quarantine thus far, as told through TV shows. Friends/The Goodwife - March/April/May Okay this is back when quarantine first began. My life consisted of watching Friends, doing schoolwork, procrastinating, doing more schoolwork, watching the Goodwife, and studying for exams. I can't actually remember which one I watched first - I think I watched them together. Luckily by this time there wasn't too much schoolwork left haha. But I watched all of both these shows those 3 months...I was a bit obsessed if you can't tell. But the episodes for friends were only 20ish minutes long! I would 100% recommend both of these shows though, amazing pieces of work.  10/1

habit of the week - morning journalling

Hey guys! Hope you are all doing well. I love this quote in the above pic - I wrote it out the other night, and it really gets me pumped to be productive and conquer the day! I tried to draw it in a book but it didn't really turn out as one lol oops. The squiggly lines were supposed to be words on the other page I think.  In other news, unfortunately, this is going to be the final instalment of habit of the week posts for the foreseeable future. I am starting back up at school soon, and I won't have time to keep up two posts per week. On that note, starting in September, my post schedule will be every second Sunday . Not as much as I would like, however, hopefully that means the posts will be even better!! I want my content to be good, so I am trying to give myself that much more time to get it done. Anyways. I'm going to do a review of last week's habit, and then talk about this week's. So let's get into it! :) Review - early wakeup Okay soooo I won't lie

Good morning! Hope everyone is doing well. I am back with my fourth instalment of habit of the week! Honestly, these habits are so good to do and I enjoy doing this series so much. I have always loved self-improvement (I’ve bought so many self-improvement books over the years it’s not even funny lol) and so a series in which I do it is so much fun, and definitely helps to keep me accountable. I hope it has some value for you as well, whether that is through discovering new options for habits, or whether you actually try them along with me!! If you do, please let me know! That would be so cool. Anyways, I’ll first discuss last week’s habit (morning reading) and then move on to this week’s habit (early wakeup)! Last Week’s Habit: Morning Reading I absolutely loved this habit. Reading in the morning is such a great way to start the day, especially given that one of my August goals is reading daily. I just finished the book All the Ever Afters (SO good, would definitely recommend), and

self care sunday - tips and ideas.

Good afternoon wonderful people! Self-care is such an important concept that is slowly becoming more normalized and promoted in the social media world, and I love it. I think it’s such a vital part of feeling your best self, but with the emphasis on productivity our society seems to enjoy, it can kind of get lost or deemed unimportant on the to-do list. And I’m guilty of this too, but because self-care is something I enjoy (as it should be) over the past few years I’ve gotten a lot more into it.  I think it’s also important to recognize that self-care isn’t always super aesthetic and fun things. It’s sometimes about getting real with yourself. Doing what needs to be done, no matter how difficult, and no matter how much you don’t want to do it.  Doing that homework or writing that essay simply because it needs to get done. Making your bed simply because it makes you feel more put together. Going for that run simply because you want to be healthy.  Doing something even if it won’t be fu

Good afternoon all!! Hope you are doing well! I am back with another instalment of my habit of the week series. I’ll start off with a review of last week’s habit (get up and go) and then get into this week’s (morning reading)!! The ‘get up and go’ habit actually worked really well. I quite enjoyed it to be honest - getting out of bed first thing, or at least within a few minutes, was a really good way to start the morning. Having breakfast and then getting into the day means I get into it so much earlier! It makes me feel so much more productive. Especially if (and I’ve been trying to do this more) I’ve planned out my day the night before!  However...I still succumbed every now and then to the phone/social media black hole, and a couple days this week I was on for an hour or so before getting up :( SO. That brings me to this week’s habit. Morning reading. I did this on Sunday I believe it was...and oh my goodness it was the most relaxing and enjoyable way to start the morning. Instead

summer morning routine.

Good evening and happy Sunday! I hope you had an amazing day! :) Today, I wanted to discuss my summer morning routine. Now, I won’t lie - I love the idea of doing an intentional routine where I plan out what I want to do every morning and get into that habit. And I’m working on that. But I’ve kind of fallen into an accidental routine that I actually really like haha. So I thought I’d share it here! I’m also going to add a few things that I want to add in this month hopefully, we shall see how that goes! Hopefully it will help someone, and at the very least, have it to look back on next summer or when I’m starting a new routine in the fall. So...here it is! :) — 7am - 7:30am: wake up — This one kind of shifts depending on what time I went to bed - I like to get between 8-8 and half hours of sleep every night, so like I said, it really depends. But I like getting up early - sleeping in just makes me feel like I’ve wasted the day! Know what I mean?  — 7am - 7:45am: chilling and scrolling

habit of the week - get up and go.

Good afternoon all! :) I hope you are having a great start to your week. I am back with my second habit of the week post! I’ll start with a review of last week’s habit, and then talk about my new one for this week! Last week, I did the ‘morning workout’ habit. Honestly, that was awesome. I love starting my morning with a bit of exercise - it really sets a good tone for the day. I didn’t get as many runs in as I wanted - apparently, when you go from running about once a month to every other day your body may not react so well?? Who knew?? Oops haha. But I still did get a few runs in, which was nice. One thing I found super useful was making at least some of the workouts fun. If it is something I am looking forward to, I am much more likely to do it. And for right now especially, when I just want to try and set the habit, I want to make sure I actually do it. Once it’s a habit it will likely be easier to mix things up or make them more difficult! For example, on one of the days, I did a

Good evening all!! :) Hope you’re doing well!! As we approach the end of July, I’m here with a list of all the books I am hoping to read during August!! I will, of course, review them all once I’m finished - let me know if a reading vlog at some point would be something you’d be interested in seeing as well! I’ve seen a few of those and they seem pretty fun. ANYWAYS. I’m likely going to have more time this month to read - fingers crossed. We’ll see what happens. So, here it is :) 1. Own the Day, Own Your Life by Aubrey Marcus  I’ve had this one for a year or two now, and have been slowly making my way through. It’s got a lot of good info in it, but whenever I sit down to read it tends to be more fiction than anything if I’m honest, cause it’s been more to unwind as of late. But I am determined to finally finish it this month! And I’m hoping to read more nonfiction this month as well (as you can probably tell by the rest of this list haha). 2. Factfulness by Hans Rosling  Sooo I bough

habit of the week - morning workout

Image
Morning everyone! :) Hope you are all doing well! I’ve decided for my Tuesday posts that I’m going to start doing ‘habit of the week’ and try out a different healthy habit each week! So for this week, we have morning workouts. I originally wanted to do morning runs but oh my goodness I don’t think I can do those every morning haha. I went for a run Friday and was still sore like two days later. Soooo I’m going to call this habit a morning workout so my body has a chance to recover, and I can try new things.  I really want to turn this into a proper habit though, and hopefully reach the point where I can do a morning run everyday! But for now, I’m going to stick with a morning run every other day hopefully, and on the other days, elliptical/weights/squats, that kind of thing.  For this series, I’m going to do posts each Tuesday where I reflect on the habit from the last week and what I thought about it, and then talk about the one for the next week. However this week, since I don’t real

on being inspired.

The sun is coming up, the coffee mug is in your hand, and you’re all cozied up by the window watching the world wake up. I don’t know about you, but to me, that’s the epitome of being inspired. I love those moments. Everything inside me is happy, I feel overwhelmed with thankfulness and smiles. And that feeling, that is one I love recreating. I’ve realized this recently. Life is what we make of it. That feeling changes - sometimes, it’s of pure joy, of just being happy to be alive. Other times, it’s motivation, a feeling that I can be better and I will be better and I gotta try my best. And sometimes, it’s just contentment, and peace. Living in the moment, in whatever I’m doing, and just enjoying it. Those feelings have one thing in common - they are happy feelings, and they are ones we need to chase. Because, each in their own right, they are one of the best feelings in the world. Who says we are only allowed feel it every now and then? If I can feel like that every day, then why shou

new beginnings :)

Well hello there. It’s been a hot minute haha. I feel like I start most blog posts apologizing but I am sorry I went MIA for like a year and a half! It’s just been so busy, but that’s no excuse. I’ve literally had this post partly written for a few months...but here it is! Finally! Firstly. How is everybody doing? This is a hugely uncertain and scary time for everyone, and honestly part of the reason I want to start blogging again - it’s something creative to do, and something I have always enjoyed. This blog has changed so much over the years, but at the same time, I think it has stayed pretty true to its beginnings. I started it as a blog about 5 years ago, about trying new things. That’s still pretty much the point, but it casually morphed into a lifestyle blog overtime. Which is basically a way of saying everything - I have no limits, haha. This blog is going to continue that. I want to make it a space to a) practice my writing and keep up my creativity, and b) spread positivity
